Licensing, Permits, Inspections & Insurance Required for Solar Contractors and Solar Installers

New York Solar Authority (NYSA) personnel are extraodinarily and uniquely qualified licensed master electrical contractors, and master solar contractors and solar installer.

NYSA's 25 years of turn-key, design/build solar construction experience combined with NYSA's 35 years of electrical construction expertise proudly distinguishes our firm from all the rest.

As a homeowner or business customer of NYSA, you will be assured and confident that skilled and licensed electrical journeymen will be performing all aspects of construction of your solar power project.

All homeowners and businesses should be cautioned against hiring
an "overnight sensation," so-called "solar contractor/installer." The majority of these "self-proclaimed solar contractor/installers" (SPC)
are actually working illegally since New York City and State do not recognize or license any "solar contractor/installer" classification of business operations.

These SPC's typically hire unskilled "day-laborers", to mount solar modules and perform module D.C. wiring. The SPC then subcontracts
a real electrical contractor to do minimal, final A.C. wiring to the grid.

Finally, the SPC will often circumvent the "permit and inspection" process, by failing to properly inform the consumer that an electrical permit is required prior to performing any construction. Failure to properly permit and inspect solar power projects may be interpreted
as a default by project insurers.

A prudent homeowner or businessperson must insist on electrical permits and electrical inspections from any person or firm engaging
in solar electric construction.

Our firm has performed extensive research for the advancement and proper application of solar technology in New York City and Long Island. The findings of our research have helped improve the building code and licensing procedures under which solar PV power system installations are regulated.
